Sermon 4/10/2022 – Christ’s Cry of Triumph, Pastor Barry S. Dilworth

John 19:30

Christ’s Cry of Triumph

Introduction: Jesus cries out, “It is finished.”  The victim has become the victor.  His work on earth is done and the gates of heaven are now opened up, so that anyone may enter in who puts his faith in this faithful Savior.

What did Jesus mean when he said, “It is finished.”

  • He meant that all the prophecies connected with his life and death had been fulfilled.
  • He meant that his sufferings were over.
  • He meant that his work of redemption was accomplished.

Final Thought: From the hymn, At the Cross:

But drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe,

Here, Lord, I give myself away, tis all that I can do.
